About Me:
Rev. Heather Ma serves the community of St. Thomas, Abingdon as our Rector. Her ministry background is deeply ecumenical, shaped by more than a decade in campus ministry and a lifetime of parish leadership and service. Heather is passionate about creating spiritually grounded, trauma-informed Christian community where all people can encounter God’s loving presence and experience belonging in the Body of Christ.
A spiritual director, certified yoga instructor, musician, and lifelong seeker, Heather believes the mystery of the Trinity reflects diversity held together in love and unity. Her own experiences of church trauma and spiritual abuse have shaped her calling to lead with compassion, authenticity, and care within the Episcopal Church.
Heather loves singing, being outside, walking the Virginia Creeper Trail, good coffee, crafts, and is an aspiring gardener (when the babies get older!). She and her spouse Paul are grateful parents of two beloved children, and many parishioners already know and love Raisin, the office maltipoo.
Above all, Heather is invested in the spiritual wellbeing of the St. Thomas community and would love to connect with you. For pastoral care, direction, or other questions, don’t hesitate to reach out at rector@stthomasabingdon.org
